On Tuesday 26th March, on the occasion of the Kick-off Meeting of LIBECCIO, an international conference was held in Bologna (Italy), aiming at offering participants an overview of what is currently being developed on the territory of Emilia-Romagna Region on the topic of data combined with sustainability and resilience in the tourism sector, with a particular focus on the importance of these initiatives for decision-making processes.
In addition to LIBECCIO, other projects and initiatives were illustrated, many of international scope, always connected to the territory and pursuing regional objectives in terms of data and Tourism.
Specific projects were also discussed, such as Data Science and Digital Twins – focus on Slow Tourism, BEST MED, PABLO, the Digital Twin VERA, SOCLIMPACT, as well as the governance projects of the Euro-MED Programme Sustainable Tourism Mission, Community for Tourism and Dialogue for Tourism.
The European network NECSTouR (Network of European Regions for Competitive and Sustainable Tourism) also intervened through its Tourism of Tomorrow Lab department, of which the Emilia-Romagna Region is a Premium member and which provides targeted technical assistance in the field of data for the sustainability and resilience of the Tourism Sector.
