On 25 September 2026, partners gathered online for the LIBECCIO Plus Kick-off Meeting, officially launching the continuation phase of the project LIBECCIO, informally referred to as “LIBECCIO+”. This new phase corresponds to the implementation of Work Package 4 Transfer, Uptake and Mainstreaming of LIBECCIO Experience, which aims to capitalise on, transfer and consolidate the project’s achievements across the Euro-Mediterranean area.
Coordinated by the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Kick-off Meeting marked the start of a new set of activities focused on transferring the LIBECCIO approach to new territories and strengthening the uptake of the tools, methodologies and governance models developed during the project. During the meeting, partners reviewed the overall objectives of the continuation phase, the project coordination framework and the main activities foreseen under Work Package 4.
Planned actions include assessing the needs and digital maturity of the territories involved in the transfer process, adapting the DMSS to different local contexts, establishing Cross-Functional Hubs of Practice to foster stakeholder engagement, developing a Tourism Big Data Pact, strengthening dialogue with the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, and contributing to the Euro-MED Academy with new training and capacity-building contents. Particular attention will also be devoted to communication and awareness-raising activities aimed at expanding the LIBECCIO community of practice and increasing the long-term impact of the project’s results.
During the meeting, partners also discussed and endorsed the work plan for the first six months of implementation, defining priorities, responsibilities and key milestones. The event concluded with the establishment of the first Steering Committee for the continuation phase and the agreement on the next operational steps.
Through LIBECCIO+, the partnership aims to further support the digital and sustainable transition of Mediterranean tourism destinations by facilitating the transfer of knowledge, tools and good practices to public authorities, tourism organisations and local communities. Building on the achievements of the original project, this new phase will help ensure that LIBECCIO’s innovative approach continues to generate value and impact well beyond the lifetime of the initial project.
